9/11: The Case Isn't Closed

Saturday, 3 February 2007 6:04 P GMT-05
What happened to critical thinking? I thought "the Left" believed that the system's power is based on lies, exploitation and a media controlled by its own culture of overly cautious professionalism. The Left should be leading this 9/11 movement, not taking potshots from outside.

A Clarion Call for Health Independence

Thursday, 1 February 2007 3:53 P GMT-05
Alone and racing against death, the Odones persist for three years before finding the clue that leads them not to a cure but to a treatment; oleic acid can destroy the fatty acids that are destroying Lorenzo’s brain. Augusto develops a formula he calls “Lorenzo’s Oil” — a combination of two fats extracted from olive oil and rapeseed oil. The formula proves remarkably effective in presymptomatic boys with the ALD gene because of its ability to halt the body’s production of the specific acids that attack the myelin sheaths.

Dan Wallace of NY911Truth, Fallen Firefighter's Son, Found Dead

Wednesday, 31 January 2007 7:26 P GMT-05
Dan Wallace, 23, was found dead early Monday morning in his bed. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. He was a young man of great conviction and conscience, and his heart was as big as his smile. Dan will be sorely missed by myself and the members of "We Are Change," as well as all of us in the New York 911 Truth organization. Our hearts go out to his family, especially his mother who must endure the deaths of a husband and child in the span of only a few years.

Open Letter to Markos Moulitsas ZĂșniga of dailykos.com

Monday, 29 January 2007 7:04 A GMT-05
I don't normally do this, and initially, I had planned on writing you a long and nasty email because of your policy of censorship at your website. It angers me that people like you, not unlike the mainstream media in America, decide what people read and what they don't. You will talk and write about how the media in America is controlled by unseen hands, or biased toward the right, yet you practice the same brand of defacto censorship, most notably surrounding the events of September 11th, 2001.

Outrageous Injustice

Friday, 26 January 2007 3:10 P GMT-05
When he was a senior in high school, he received oral sex from a 10th grader. He was 17. She was 15. Everyone, including the girl and the prosecution, agreed she initiated the act. But because of an archaic Georgia law, it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex.

Paramilitary Assault Teams Terrorizing America

Thursday, 25 January 2007 5:23 P GMT-05
The ultimate goal of the paramilitary assault teams, many of whose numbers across the country will be boosted when troops arrive back from Iraq, is mass gun confiscation on the scale that we saw during Hurricane Katrina, where everyone from 80-year-old grandmothers to rich mansion owners in the dry areas had their weapons seized. Soldiers in Iraq have been trained to carry out door to door raids and have been utilized for this function thousands of times. Alex Jones has attended numerous military urban warfare training drills across the U.S. where role players were used to simulate arresting American citizens, confiscating their weapons, and taking them to internment camps. Actors scream out that they have constitutional rights as they are handcuffed and hauled off to the detainment facility.

MSNBC: New Pentagon detainee manual could lead to executions based on 'hearsay evidence'

Friday, 19 January 2007 3:20 A GMT-05
As required by law, the manual prohibits statements obtained by torture and "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment" as prohibited by the Constitution. However, the law does allow statements obtained through coercive interrogation techniques if obtained before Dec. 30, 2005, and deemed reliable by a judge.

Where the Hell Is YOUR 9/11 Proof?

Tuesday, 16 January 2007 5:11 A GMT-05
This is a battle for truth. It’s not a debate over conflicting philosophies. It is a battle between those who are searching for facts and those who choose to deny that a search is necessary. How long do those in blinders have to be engulfed in flames before they believe an independent researcher who warns them of the increasing heat?

Absolute Power

Monday, 15 January 2007 8:19 P GMT-05
But it has finally become clear that the goal of these foolish efforts isn't really to win the war against terrorism; indeed, nothing about Padilla, Guantanamo, or signing statements moves the country an inch closer to eradicating terror. The object is a larger one, and the original overarching goal of this administration: expanding executive power, for its own sake.

Saudi torture: a Whitehall cover-up

Friday, 12 January 2007 5:00 P GMT-05
Indeed, far from helping their citizens to get justice, the UK government has hindered them in a number of ways. Most remarkably in our particular case, it intervened on the side of the Saudis. In the Lords, the government's counsel even supported the Saudi claim to immunity. That lawyer was Professor Christopher Greenwood QC, the same man who advised Tony Blair that the invasion of Iraq was lawful, against the views of nearly every other international lawyer.

Scientific American Lies for the Empire

Friday, 12 January 2007 4:23 P GMT-05
If buildings that are "95 percent" air -- virtually all modern office buildings -- can only collapse straight down, one has to wonder why demolition companies are paid millions of dollars to engineer straight-down collapses with hundreds of carefully placed and precision-timed explosives. Shermer fails to note that no structure before or after 9/11/01 has ever exhibited the phenomenon of top-down progressive total collapse, no matter what fraction of it was air. The non-repeatability of this phenomenon will trouble students of the scientific method, but not Shermer.

A Peculiar Version of Friendly Fire

Thursday, 11 January 2007 8:03 P GMT-05
Female soldiers, she soon learned, were called “bitches,” “sluts,” and “dykes.” A friend in an all-male unit related a story in which an obligatory equal opportunity class devolved into a rant against servicewomen, who “always” said they’d been raped after regrettable drunken liaisons. A woman in Dougherty’s unit who stayed behind the initial deployment because she was pregnant showed up in Iraq four months later after an abortion—and was congratulated by the platoon commander on getting “the first confirmed kill in the unit.”

And there is this revealing information: "This 86 percent of the detainees captured by Pakistan or the Northern Alliance were handed over to the United States at a time when the U.S. offered large bounties for capture of suspected terrorists." The captives in these mass roundups were hardly screened carefully for their terrorist connections by the bounty hunters -- nor were they carefully screened, according to international law criteria, by our armed forces.

Tortured in the death chamber

Monday, 8 January 2007 8:43 P GMT-05
LETHAL INJECTION was introduced following the reinstatement of capital punishment three decades ago by a state medical examiner in Oklahoma who had no experience in pharmacology or anesthesia, nor did any research on the subject. Despite this, 37 out of 38 states that use the death penalty adopted the untested procedure, claiming that it was a more “humane” way to put someone to death. A recently released Human Rights Watch study “found no evidence that any state seriously investigated whether other drugs or administration methods would be ‘more humane’ than the protocol it adopted.” As a coauthor of the study commented, prison officials “are more concerned with appearances than with the reality.”

Manuel Garcia Sees Physics That Don’t Exist

Saturday, 6 January 2007 4:51 P GMT-05
Government scientists get paid to support government policies, particularly in this era of “Bush Science”, and clearly Garcia is willing to play along. But why would political news organizations, like Counterpunch, that present themselves as alternatives to the corporate media, promote these false claims? Consider for a moment the implications of a breakthrough in the truth about 9/11. If the official story about 9/11 is completely false, as it has proven to be, that fact should call into question those media sources who have helped to cover-up the details over the last five years, even if only through gross negligence of the facts. Whether or not collusion with alternative media was involved, if there is a possibility that the neo-cons actually helped in planning or executing the attacks, then the fact that they pulled it off means that Alexander Cockburn and other (ostensibly) liberal leaders might no longer enjoy the “irreverent and biting” superiority that they identify themselves with. It could be very distressing for some of these rebel leaders to realize that instead of “muckraking with a radical attitude” they have spent years meekly bolstering the status quo.

DON'T READ THIS

Wednesday, 3 January 2007 4:44 A GMT-05
And have you heard that the anthrax attacks -- which were sent along with notes purportedly written by Islamic terrorists -- used a weaponized anthrax strain from the top U.S. bioweapons facility, the Fort Detrick military base? Indeed, top bioweapons experts have stated that the anthrax attack may have been a CIA test "gone wrong"; and see this article by a former NSA and naval intelligence officer. It is also interesting that the only congress people mailed anthrax-containing letters were key democrats, and that the attacks occurred one week before passage of the freedom-curtailing Patriot Act, which seems to have scared them and the rest of congress into passing that act without even reading it. And it might be coincidence, but White House staff began taking the anti-anthrax medicine before the Anthrax attacks occurred.

Mike Gallagher Hates the First Amendment

Friday, 29 December 2006 7:01 P GMT-05
It seems Gallagher, the 6th most listened-to radio talk show host in the United States, currently tied with Neal Boortz, who tells his listeners Rep. Cynthia McKinney “looks like a ghetto slut,” at about 3,750,000 listeners, is clueless when it comes to natural rights, George Mason’s 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights, the 1689 English Bill of Rights, and the bedrock philosophy of the Age of Enlightenment, all increasingly under attack. Gallagher, and no shortage of other “conservatives,” in essence authoritarian thugs, including Newt Gingrich, who has called for the First Amendment be struck, lest the “terrorists” use the internet and attack us, are routinely provided with substantial airtime to push their fascistic ideas, especially over at the unitary decider network, Fox News, where the FĂŒhrer Principle (FĂŒhrerprinzip) is on display 24/7.

Living in America’s Fringe Economy

Friday, 29 December 2006 5:08 P GMT-05
Maria Guzman and her family are part of the 10% of U.S. households -- more than 12 million -- that have no relationship with a bank, savings institution, credit union, or other mainstream financial service provider. Being "unbanked," the Guzmans turn to the fringe economy for check cashing, bill payment, short-term pawn or payday loans, furniture and appliance rentals, and a host of other financial services. In each case, they face high user fees and exorbitant interest rates. Without credit, the Guzmans must buy a car either for cash or through a "buy-here/pay-here" (BHPH) used car lot. At a BHPH lot they are saddled with a 28% annual percentage rate (APR) on a high-mileage and grossly overpriced vehicle. They also pay weekly, and one missed payment means a repossession. Since the Guzmans have no checking account, they use a check-casher who charges 2.7% for cashing their monthly $1,500 in payroll checks, which costs them $40.50 a month or $486 a year.

As well, there is no evidence he committed suicide, or did he fit the profile of a suicide. Thirty-three years ago, Gerald R. Ford took pen in hand and changed - ever so slightly - the Warren Commission's key sentence on the place where a bullet entered John F. Kennedy's body when he was killed in Dallas. The effect of Ford's change was to strengthen the commission's conclusion that a single bullet passed through Kennedy and severely wounded Texas Gov. John Connally - a crucial element in its finding that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman.

Death by Dust: The frightening link between the 9-11 toxic cloud and cancer

Tuesday, 26 December 2006 4:15 P GMT-05
And that was before anyone knew of the apparent cancer link, first reported in the New York news media in the spring of 2004. Even more shocking is the incidence of cancer and other life-threatening illnesses that have developed among those participating in the recovery workers' lawsuits. Given the fact that some cancers are slower to develop than others, it seems likely to several doctors and epidemiologists that many more reports of cancer and serious lung illnesses will surface in the months and years to come. The fact that 8,500 recovery workers have already banded together to sue, only five years later--with 400 total cancer patients among their number--leads many experts to predict that these figures are likely to grow, meaning a possible death toll in the thousands. In many ways, these illnesses suggest the slow but deteriorating health issues that faced the atomic-bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where thousands died in the years and decades that followed the United States' use of nuclear weapons. And that similarity has not been lost on David Worby, the 53-year-old attorney leading the joint-action suits on behalf of those workers who are already sick, and even dying. "In the end," Worby declares, "our officials might be responsible for more deaths than Osama bin Laden on 9-11."

America Has Become Incarceration Nation

Friday, 22 December 2006 9:50 P GMT-05
Drug policies have been responsible for a disproportionate share of the rise in the inmate population, with the 40,000 drug offenders in prison or jail in 1980 increasing to a half million today. A substantial body of research has documented that these laws have had virtually no effect on the drug trade, as measured by price or availability of drugs. Most of the drug offenders in prison are not the "kingpins" of the drug trade. Indeed, the low-level sellers who are incarcerated are rapidly replaced on the streets by others seeking economic gain.

Sunday, 17 December 2006 3:20 P GMT-05
Yes, the Truth Movement "raises questions", and the questions are of vastly greater importance than any theories that might arise from them. It is not necessary -- perhaps not even desirable -- to resort to scenarios that can then be dashed by the belittling label of "conspiracy" which, like the word "paranoia", can be applied to neutralize valid concerns. The questions themselves are so numerous and significant that demands for honest answers are implicit within them.

Pressing for the Truth on 9/11

Wednesday, 13 December 2006 6:34 P GMT-05
The Kissinger-9/11 story and many other important stories related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 — and the subsequent official investigations and coverups — are grippingly told in the important video documentary, 9/11 Press for Truth. Though it does not provide all the answers, this brave quest for justice by 9/11 families and independent researchers does at least ask many of the right questions — very pointed questions that most Americans have forgotten, or likely never even heard of amongst the incessant coverage related to 9/11 and its aftermath. 9/11 Press for Truth is a well-crafted exposĂ© that will be an eye-popper to many Americans who still believe that the 9/11 Commission Report issued in 2004 represents the culmination of an exhaustive, good-faith effort by federal authorities to get to the bottom of what went wrong and how it was that this devastating attack so easily overcame our nation's defenses.

One reason that the Bush Administration can claim with a straight face that the U.S. does not torture is, of course, because all the top members of the Bush White House are world-class liars. The question here is, why? Why are they, first of all, rather openly employing torture? And secondly, what does this fact tell us about what is up with this brave new world of unspeakable horrors so thinly disguised that no one except the misinformed and gullible would believe the cover stories?

Media Coverage of Right vs. Islamic 'Terrorism'

Monday, 11 December 2006 7:00 P GMT-05
I just logged on to Nexis and did a search for Demetrius Van Crocker across all US newspapers and wire services, for all time. Crocker has been mentioned in all of 35 stories, many of those being various versions of the same 473-word AP article about his conviction earlier this year (though Google couldn't find any public versions of the story that actually worked, so their cache will have to suffice). Just today, Nexis shows countless versions (scores) of the AP's report about Shareef, as well as a UPI piece (they never published anything about Crocker, that I can find), and many more are on the Web but have yet to be indexed on Nexis. I took a related look early last year, comparing coverge of Christian extremist Eric Rudolph and Muslim extremist Zacarias Moussaoui. But this case is even more parallel, and thus more instructive.

The suburban poor outnumbered their inner-city counterparts for the first time last year, with more than 12 million suburban residents living in poverty, according to a study of the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas released Thursday. "Where you see increases in city poverty, in almost every metropolitan area, you also see increases in suburban poverty."

End the Other War Too

Sunday, 10 December 2006 5:32 P GMT-05
It is the very nature of victimless crimes that pushes the police to use unscrupulous tactics. In a victimless crime, such as an illegal drug transaction, there is no complaining witness, no one with an interest in reporting the crime to the police. After all, the buyer and seller willingly participate in the transaction. Thus, the only way the police can detect the criminal activity is to set it up themselves or encourage informants. But the opportunity for corruption in these tactics is immense. For example, informants looking for a favor from the police have an incentive to provide false information. You have only to read the newspapers to find details of corrupt law enforcement in connection with drug prohibition. In a free society adults have the right to ingest whatever they want. It's no business of the government. But if it makes such peaceful private activity its business, law enforcement will inevitably turn to measures that jeopardize the lives of people who have harmed no one else. Let's end this madness now.

Boomerang Effect

Sunday, 10 December 2006 5:20 P GMT-05
Police will not be surprised by this prediction. I have talked with cops about Fourth Generation war, and they “get it” much better than do American soldiers and Marines. Many have told me that they already recognize elements of war in what they are encountering, especially in inner cities. Cops have been killed while just sitting in their cruisers, because they represent the authority of the state. How big a step is it for those cruisers to get hit with IEDs instead of pistol shots? The Bush administration, as usual, has it exactly backwards. The danger is not that the “terrorists” we are fighting in Iraq will come here if we pull out there. Rather, American involvement in 4GW in Iraq will create “terrorism” here from among the people we have sent to fight the war there. Well educated in the ways of successful insurgency, they will come home embittered by a lost war, by friends dead and crippled for life to no purpose. Thanks to America’s de-industrialization, they will return to no jobs, or lousy “service” jobs at minimum wage. Angry, frustrated and futureless, some of them will find new identities and loyalties in gangs and criminal enterprises, where they can put their new talents to work.

Rescuer called composed, 'very cool'

He had the knowledge, determination, and a ladder, so John Culhane became the leader of a band of desperate people yesterday, frantically searching for fresh air as choking black smoke billowed around them.

Police Overkill Leaves a Trail of Death

Friday, 8 December 2006 4:10 P GMT-05
Last but not least, police tasered and gunned to death Derek Hale, a decorated 25-year-old U.S. Marine who had served two tours of duty in Iraq, as he sat talking to a woman and two children in front of a house in a Delaware neighborhood. Police swarmed Hale in front of the suspected home of a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang that is notorious for violence and drug offenses. Upon engaging Hale, who was sitting with his hands in his sweatshirt, the officers insisted he place his hands in view. Immediately after that, according to independent witnesses, the police tasered him three times and fired three .40-caliber rounds into his chest, ultimately leading to his death. Hale had no criminal or arrest record in Delaware, and witnesses to the shooting insist that he was no threat to the police. In fact, after police tasered Hale the second time, one of the independent witnesses yelled at the police that what they were doing was “overkill,” to which one of the officers responded, “Shut…up or we’ll show you overkill.”

If You Want Something Done Right...

Friday, 8 December 2006 3:18 P GMT-05
These people are sick and dying as a result of actions by our Government, and now that very same Government is letting them suffer. This is unacceptable. After 9/11, the people of America managed to donate upwards of $5Billion to the people affected by the attacks. Since it seems the Government does not seem willing to help, it again falls on the shoulders of the people. As I said, this movement has always supported the sick and the dying from the environmental disaster that was 9/11. It is time to dig deep, and give them the kind of support they need. There are currently first responders who are having problems getting by month to month. We have people like David Miller who walks around with a mobile respirator, and Craig Bartmer going to places like the PSU to inform people of what's going on, but are too proud to ask for money.

The Surreal Politics of Premeditated War

Tuesday, 5 December 2006 9:59 P GMT-05
We need to know the truth and all the truth. The time has come, as well as the opportunity, for formal, Congressional investigations, based on subpoenas, sworn testimony, and direct evidence about 9/11 and about the created reality of the “war on terror.” The new Congress has no greater Constitutional duty than to find this truth and display it, if our nightmarish politics is to end. If such inquiries clearly exonerate the Bush Administration, the nation can breathe deeply and go on. If they do not, then but only then should impeachment be undertaken. To fail in this responsibility is to condone the surreal political discourse the Bush Administration has imposed. That could render it the permanent condition of American governance.

Boston Tea Party for 9/11 Truth

Monday, 4 December 2006 10:52 P GMT-05
On December 16th, the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party we come together as American Patriots, and Citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to demand the Truth of the events of 9/11. We reject the Kean Commission's failure to address the numerous, critically important outstanding questions of 9/11. The Commission's failure deliberately obscures the truth of 9-11-01. In addition The Joint Congressional Intelligence Committee Investigation - itself was held in secret - with poor access to official documents - was then heavily redacted and censored. The Kean commission's "evidence" was built on classified reports, while whistle blowers' testimony was never entered, family steering committee questions were ignored and Commission Director Zelikow's conflicts of interest were not addressed. For these and many more reasons, we cast this book of DECEIT into the Boston Harbor. Join us in carrying out our patriotic duty to REJECT THE TYRANNY OF LIES AND OMISIONS. We deem this work to be TREASON INK!: The 9/11 "Omission" Report is not worthy of respect, not worthy of the founding ideals of our nation and therefore it should be drowned in the mighty sea of Truth!

Monday, 4 December 2006 10:50 P GMT-05
Col. Bowman will present evidence, which directly contradicts the findings of the Kean Commission and points toward involvement of US government officials in the events of 9/11/01. Filmmaker John Albanese–The creator of the 9/11 Truth documentary “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime” will present his acclaimed film. In his film and talk he will address unanswered questions about the events of 9/11/01 and explore our collective resistance to facing the truth of how and why these events occurred.
